Radio Spot is in essence a (really) free app. We aim to not annoy the user. At all. Period. This streaming radio app allows you to not only stream 50K+ radio stations, it's also smart (and no, we're not on the AI hype).
The app (usually) recognizes the song currently playing (if the radio station provides the information that is), such that when you've configured the integration with your Spotify account, it will also try and find this song on Spotify and even check if it's in your Liked Songs playlist. If you haven't liked it yet you can add it with a simple tap on the ♥️. Just like you would in the Spotify app, but for live streaming radio!
You'll also appreciate the clutter-less design: no overload, what you see is what you need, no options you'll never use, no ads, no trial period.
Privacy is important to us: we do not monetize your data. For more information see our privacy policy. This also means we need to make a living in another way, which is why we offer a very democratically priced subscription to our niftiness (a good friend recently called the price sub-cup-a-coffee/month, and it is).
The user is not the product, we do not collect or sell your data (also see the privacy policy). The instances where we do use or share your data, it is to enhance the user expercience, not to gain money from your data. Those instances are:
We use your IP address to determine your country and thus provide you with the most relevant radio stations by default. We do not use this IP if you select a preferred country in the app's settings. We know you could cheat by using a VPN, that's OK.
If a link to Spotify has been set up, we need to interact with Spotify's API to make this work, i.e. we store & communicatie authentication tokens and a client ID.
We need to be able to assess if the active user has a subscription or not. To do this we exchange data with Google Play and RevenueCat. As for the counters that determine if you are still in the free tier or not, we keep those in secure local storage on your device, and yes, that makes us vulnerable to abuse. We accept that and are assuming you do not really want reset your data daily.
We send a click to radio-browser.info each time you start playing a station. This is to help radio-browser.info track popularity of radio stations, not to link you to your stations.
In the rare cases that the app crashes, we use Firebase Crashlytics to collect the required data to find out what happened (and nothing more than that).
(This is a summary of principles, for a detailed overview of the terms of the subscription, see Terms)
The user is free to use the app within the bounds of local legislation but with some limitations:
The number of radio stations the user can select is limited (in number and geographically).
The Spotify integration feature is fully functional, but there are caps on the number of songs that can be liked to Spotify.
No limitations are applicable whatsoever:
The number of radio stations the user can is unlimited in number and global in reach.
The Spotify integration is fully available without any restrictions.
